Experiments on Dyeing

So last year – probably nearly or even more than a year ago – I got this skirt and I wanted to dye it blue. I don’t even remember what it was for. I may have just been messing around. Who knows. Well, I tried it in the sink, but the fabric didn’t take to the dye very well.
So I pulled out the big plastic tub we use for dying big things (like my padme dress), dumped two boxes of blue RIT dye in it, put some water in, tossed the skirt in and left it overnight.
I checked it the next morning, and it was better, but still not the colour I wanted. I decided to leave it over the weekend. I checked again, and still not happy with it. I then went out of town for a week, and left it in the dye.
When I got home, mom had moved the tub somewhere, so I didn’t think about it (out of sight, out of mind). A few weeks later, mom told me she got sick of it and dumped the dye out. I assumed that meant she’d taken the skirt out, too.
I never gave it another thought. I completely forgot about it.

Well, today, I wanted that plastic tub. I asked mom where it was, and she said it was still in the garage, and…..
IT STILL HAD THAT SKIRT IN IT!!!
EW!!

I took it out and BOY did it stink. And…. it was STILL WET. The buttons on the back were rotted, and something really weird had happened to the zipper. I dumped it out on the driveway and cleaned the tub out, then used the pressure nosel on the hose to spray the skirt. Dye still came out of it!
I hung it on the volleyball net in the backyard. It STILL wasn’t the colour I wanted, though it is a pretty dark lavender 🙂 Too bad it’s GROSS!!!!

Ah, anyway.
I’ve been messing with my Phoenix wig. It’s pretty icky now, I’ve worked too much on it… I may have to buy a new one.
I cut the front out of Hild the other day. It was too… uh, wide. Like, bad. But since the pink stripes come so close to the edge, we can just move them over a bit. So it’s cool.
I’m really liking how it’s turning out, so far.
